So I've always been told that whatever my sons primary health insurance doesn't cover Medicaid would cover the rest which they have or so I thought. i have only ever had one small bill because that doctor doesn't take Medicaid. So I now get a bill for this blood work my son had and I call Medicaid and they said they don't do that they only cover if his primary insurance doesn't cover any. ?! I'm like wtf I've always been told one thing and never had any problems before and now all of a sudden I have to pay this bill which isn't like a huge amount but it's still $43 dollars and I really don't want to ask his dad to help me with it cause he'll probably say no. Which we have nothing in writing but I'm pretty sure he's suppose to pay half of my sons medical expenses in which I've always paid for. All his prescriptions and over the counter meds and the one bill I had I paid I didn't even say anything. I guess I'll ask him to his face on Sunday so he's less likely to be such a dick about it.

Medicaid/State insurance doesn’t cover EVERYTHING, it has to be accepted by the insurance at all. Like I have state insurance but it doesn’t cover going to the chiropractor, I have to pay out of pocket for that.

@oktoberwitch, I know they don't cover everything. And I know the provider has to accept Medicaid because like you if I wanted to go to the chiropractor I'd have to pay out of pocket too. But this was for blood work. And I just assumed since he had this blood work done before and I had no bill that it would be the same. They said they were going to bill Medicaid again and see what happened because I was getting no straight anwsers and then they told
Me it had to be done through the provider not me. So if I get another bill I'll know I just have to pay.

@missjess, yeah all blood work is different. To us it’s just blood work, to them, they’re testing and sending coding.
Or someone fucked up! I hope they do fix it, because no one wants to pay anything they don’t have to!

@oktoberwitch, I know right! Especially since I don't want to ask my ex to help😶 but I've just bought my son a whole new summer wardrobe plus he still needs some more stuff and he doesn't help with anything outside child support and we are on horrible terms right now so I have a feeling he won't want to help :/ I know it may not seem like a lot but it is when you are dishing out a ton of money for other stuff.

@missjess, it’s totally a lot! I’m budgeting just for gas right now, so trust me I feel you. My husband helps pay for a lot of things and I’m still struggling, I have no idea how you do it alone.
