I know I'm weird about how I d ed al with grief, but I really want to know if this is over board or not. Would any of you keep your child home from school for 3 days because someone YOU were close to died? Even if it meant your kid would miss out of the standardized testing? If she wasn't upset and her grades were on the edge of failing? My SD is about to miss 3 days of school because her mom is sad. I think it's out of line, but I get over stuff quickly, especially with the week and a half notice she had before her aunt passed. I really want to know if this is extreme or if I'm just "heartless"

Oh and for those that don't know, my SD lives with me and I take her too and from school.

That's dumb. And the daughter will pay for her mother's "grief". My stepkids stay with us and when their grandma died unexpectedly they didn't even miss a day of school for it. I stayed behind to keep the kids in school while my husband made funeral arrangements in FL. To each their own but that's selfish of the kids mom.

@lovelily thank you!!! I didn't know if it was just me or not!! I lost my grandmother back in October, she was like a mom to me. But I got over it quickly and if they had a funeral for her during the week, I wouldn't have went. Because I'm the only one that can take the kids to school. And that's with my family.
