Awe! They’re gonna be so happy!
Is that the tank you’re keeping them in?

@dazzlingmommy yes they are...and I don't know nothing about fish I just eat it lol, I've been on Google all day looking up stuff I was told when gold fish gets big it start eating the other fish so I have to buy a bigger tank right??

@tiff.momma.love
Let me take a picture of my gold fish he is huge. I would get a 10 gallon tank at least.
DazzlingMommy·
@tiff.momma.love, lol! Well it’s one inch of fish per gallon, so yea you’re gonna need to buy a bigger tank. They look like pretty big fish, how many inches would you say they are right now?

He's in a 55 gallon tank though

We need to change water and do the filters but he's at least 12 inches and I've had him 6 years

@nerdymommyplus2 @dazzlingmommy please educate me guys lol I can't have another dead fish on my hands I will give up as a grandmother all together lol
DazzlingMommy·
@nerdymommyplus2, WOW! Thats a big fish!!! Lol
Deleted·
Well since you have goldfish you can't add t
anymore fish because they produce ammonia. 10 gallon tank is fine for one goldfish but if you have 3 I would get more. If you get good filters, you won't have to change water often
"Fish only grow to tank" is a myth.
I occasionally get "feeder guppies" but mostly my fish eat pellets/flakes. Just be careful changing water so you don't shock them

@nerdymommyplus2 oh wow he's big and very sexy lol I feel weird calling a fish sexy but I'm a loser so yea I love his color and fins lol 😏

@dazzlingmommy
Oh yeah girl and he's outlived his life span. I won him in a fair when I was pregnant with my oldest
DazzlingMommy·
@tiff.momma.love, lmao!
Well first thing I would buy a much bigger tank or if possible quickly exchange them for smaller fish that you can keep in nice size tank. Gold fish are actually more work than people think and like nerdymommyplus2 , they get huge! Lol
Lulu·
Awww. I really miss having fish. You got some big goldfish so you will need a huuuge tank. The guideline is 20 gallons for the first goldfish and 10 gallons for each additional goldfish after that. If not, you risk ammonia poisoning and them attacking each other. Fish are territorial.
That little tank would work for one Betta fish by himself. Bettas are very low maintenance - no filter or anything needed. Goldfish poop some much more. They do better with a big tank with an attached filter.

I would personally get a 20-30 gallon tank. But mine took awhile to grow.
DazzlingMommy·
@nerdymommyplus2, lol oh my gosh! He must be one special fish!

I have a huge pleco too but he likes to hide 😂

@lulu85_18 taken notes from you mama's lol ok the attacking situation that when they swim real fast towards each other because they've been doing that and I got a white fish can't see it clear on the pic but it's always swimming close to the other fishes Like it's attached to them lol
DazzlingMommy·
@tiff.momma.love, lol! Oh and ask one of the workers there! The lady at petco helped me choose which fish would be best for us based on the size tank I was buying. & definitely get a tank with a filter! Won’t have to clean the tank so often . And maybe get a small snail? I have two and they help do some extra cleaning around the tank 👌🏼
Deleted·
@dazzlingmommy
I wouldn't recommend a snail. They can reproduce on their own and have been know to over take a tank. Pleco would be good if you want a bottom feeder
Deleted·
@dazzlingmommy
Oh read that wrong. I wanted snails but they told me that they can take over a tank because they'll reproduce constantly...

@nerdymommyplus2 got it written down any thing else I need to know lol I'm tryna get them as big as yours that's my goal lol I don't wanna be a murder lol
DazzlingMommy·
@nerdymommyplus2, lol oh wow! Well thankfully that hasn’t happened with us yet. I’ve had them for a year now and I have two guppies. No babies or issues 🤞🤞

@tiff.momma.love
When you go to petstores see if you can get a bag to put them in. When taking and replacing water in tanks we put the fish in bags with water then place it in the full tank so that's the water in their bag and tank are the same temperature. It keeps from "shocking" them....
I once had 2 Paco's and 2 Cichlids and we accidentally shocked them.

@dazzlingmommy @nerdymommyplus2 so tap water out of the question? Lol
Deleted·
@tiff.momma.love
I use tap water. Tap water is only our of question mainly for betas
DazzlingMommy·
@tiff.momma.love, @nerdymommyplus2, I use tap water and use a water treatment for cloudy water (when needed).
I had no idea you couldn’t use it for Betas tho!! I had two betas who actually lasted 4 years each lol

@dazzlingmommy
It's the chlorine in tap water which makes it bad for water. If you leave water out for 24 hours the chlorine will evaporate out. That's what I do for my rabbit since it cant use tap water due to chlorine
DazzlingMommy·
@nerdymommyplus2, Oooh okay! Good to know! 😊 Thanks!
