Any suggestions?
I’m trying to break the habit of feeding in the middle of the night. At first it worked, he would take the binky and go back to sleep.
But now he gets mad when I try to give it to him and he won’t calm down and sleep until I feed him! I feel bad because I don’t want to wake up the others in the house but I really don’t want him to keep this habit.
@tiredmom, His doctor didn’t mention night feeding patterns but suggested cereal or purée foods for now, twice a day.
@ishabroadway21, That’s good to hear! Hopefully it’s a smooth transition for mine too.
I also agree that he probably still needs those feeds 😊 it's okay! It won't cause any bad habits! My daughter still fed through the night until about 16 months and then she didn't want or need it anymore! And now she sleeps perfectly all night!
@coffeewitch things like putting cereal in his bottle or giving him solids before he's ready are what effects future eating habits. His doctor can give you a guide on child eating habits, but even that is a just a general idea not a hard fact for every kid ever.
@tiredmom, @blakeslatinmama, Oh okay, my mom said that it would effect his habits later. But she IS an older generation so her way is probably outdated lol. Thanks mommas! I was afraid I was doing something wrong.
My doctor told me to stop night feedings around your son's age. Try giving him one or two more ounces before bed and when he wakes up. That's what I did (and still do) with my daughter.
