I’m deff gonna reach out to a lawyer and see what they say. It doesn’t hurt to try. If they don’t understand why I’m doing it then that’s on them.

I would def sue someone. It’s your child and they should have had better control of the dog. And if they knew the dog might be aggressive and attack they should have had a muzzle or something on it to make sure it can’t attack. I don’t care what breed of dog it is. There is no proof that one type of breed is more aggressive then another. It all has to do with the way they are brought up the first year of their life. And if it’s a rescue dog. I’m not even going to get into that. But I have an aggressive rescue dog, basenji, and when people come over or we take him outside or he’s around young kids or other dogs. We have a choke collar with the prongs on it on him, the leash which is always in our hands and a muzzle on him. He doesn’t always wear these things. Just when he’s out and about. SUE THEM

I'd talk to a lawyer and see if it's even possible and what it would take. They should have put the dogs away, I mean people can say oh they are family and you'll damage the relationship but if they really cared that you were family they would have put the dogs away, it's common sense. I get the whole dogs are family thing and shouldn't be confined in their home but if there is a little child around and the dogs are bigger, they need to be put away just temporarily, it's not a big deal. My boyfriend actually rehomed his pit bull because he was way too wild for my son and it scared him because he was so big and still a hyper puppy. He hated having to do it but he knew it was in my son's best interest since we were moving in.

This happened to us! My daughter was 13 months. It was my moms and step dads dog. We had to sue her homeowners. My daughter had to have plastic surgery and our insurance would not cover it.

@johnell, oh ok. That’s definitely a hard thing to deal with. I can’t even imagine how you are feeling. The fact that they haven’t even reached out to see how he is doing is a disgrace! If I was in that situation, I would be doing anything and everything I could to make sure he was ok.

@theycallmemommy, he’s a lab rott mix. He’s kinda big I guess but he’s usually great with kids. Never had a problem with him jumping or biting. He’s always done so good with my son. So this was a major surprise to all of us.

You can definitely sue. Meant to add that in my first comment. At the end of the day, it’s their dog and it happened in their home so they are at fault.

I think I’m going to give a lawyer a call and see what they suggest doing as I would not like to get plastic surgery so I’m hoping the creams help but I feel like my son should not be left permanently scarred and it’s not like I’m looking for money for myself or anything I just want my son to be able to have a normal looking face like he did prior to getting bit. I will post a picture scars so far in a few minutes I get their family but it’s not like they’re the best people anyways I’ve been trying to be nice but they haven’t even reached out to see how my son is doing since the day after it happened or even asked if we needed anything or if we needed any bills covered this whole situation sucks

May is ask if it was a big dog? If the dog has a tendency to jump on anyone or doesn’t do well with people then it should have been in a crate or in a bedroom with the door locked! My cousin has a huge pit bull and he will put her in the basement when we come over because she gets very excited.

Personally, family or not if your animal hurt my child, then it’s a different story. Even if they are renting they should have renters insurance which would cover any bodily damage that happened on the property regardless of who owns the property. Is the dog is theirs, then it’s on them to pay for any damages, whether it’s medical bills etc.

I'm not too sure, but I don't think courts will make them pay for plastic surgery because it's not necessary.

@johnell damage the relationship?! Wow!...smh anyways on that.. To me the relationship would be done when the dog bit my child especially not offering to pay or refusing to put the dog away for a holiday.. Hell yes I'd Sue! That baby deserves it he is permanently damaged with scars and fear of dogs! I'm definitely on your side for this hun

@johnell, I'm just not sure if they would have to pay for it because it's not like he needs the plastic surgery. Why would it go to the homeowner if it was their dog?

@ecahanes, it’s not like they are anything to jump up and down about. I don’t wanna sue family although I think it would go to who ever owns the home. But my son should have some justice and them paying for nothing is not justice
