I have my induction appointment today too! I’m so nervous

@mommytonayeliz I can offer some insight on induction..

You check into your room at the hospital.They take urine and blood samples. They check your cervix to see how favorable it is (that's step 1) and determine what they will insert in order to soften and dilate it if necessary which in your case it will be (first time mom, early induction) they need to make it favorable. The inserted speculum will have to remain in place over night or until the cervix is determined to be ripe. That part doesnt bring on contractions or anything, it just softens and dilates your cervix in your case being this your first time. Next step is the drip, pitocin. This will bring on the contractions and slowly start your labor. Once you have progressed enough they will continue to check you and offer the epidural/pain relief you choose, and they will break your water with a thimble. It doesnt hurt but it's very uncomfortable and an odd sensation but it's over pretty quick. Once they break your water, if all goes as planned, your baby will be born soon as that is the last step, and that's when the real pain sets in (unless the epidural works for you), did not for me. From the time they break your water is when the contractions will be at their worst, your body trying to get baby out obviously but it's over pretty soon if it goes as planned. My first induction at 37 weeks was a textbook induction and went perfectly. Dont listen to the horror stories, your body will respond in it's own unique way and everything will most likely be just fine. It's over before you know it.

@mommytonayeliz, we got this! We will forget about everything the second they put those baby girls in our arms. Inductions arnt the best but worth it
