My son has literally had a cough since he was 1 day old. Over the months it’s only gotten worse and worse. I would bring it up at EVERY appointment and they all said it was normal and would go away over time. I ended up taking him to the ER because he started to gasp for air while coughing and also was throwing up. They told me he had bronchialitis and used a tube to go down his nose/throat to get the mucus out that I couldn’t reach myself. Then they said that I would need to just let it ride its course. Well today he got sent home from daycare for dry heaving and throwing up his whole bottle, also has diarrhea and obviously still a bad cough. Has this happened to anyone else??? Where your child always had a cough? Did it ever go away?? He has an appointment for later today but I would still like some insight beforehand if possible.

He had bronchiolitis at 5m, and the doctor told us that in infants it can take months for the cough to fully go away. He had had it mid December, and in March he still had remnants of it. His wasn't even a bad case, didn't need a nebulizer or anything. Apologies, I don't remember if he had diarrhea or vomiting as well, but I know when I have an excess of mucus I become nauseated, and when he has an excess of mucus/saliva, he sometimes has diarrhea just from swallowing a lot of it.
Can you find a different doctor? I think infants coughing is pretty normal, since their whole system is new, but a doctor who basically ignores a steadily worsening cough probably shouldn't be seen anymore.

@nomli, I might switch up doctors depending on what he says today because he’s already a new doctor. My son was seeing the same one up until 2 1/2 months old but we had to switch because of insurance probs. He’s only seen this doctor once before and I noticed whenever I tried to talk to him or tell him something, he talked over me and completely over looked it. I won’t let that happen again today.

@damiensmommy1117, The doctor was so eager to hurry up and get out of there. He’s like “it’s probably just a cold”. I’m changing doctors.
