I let my son be a kid. I don’t sit on my phone the whole time but I’m also not a helicopter mom who follows him and freaks every time he falls. I’m that mom who says “well you won’t do that again, will you” I’m the mom who is “you learn from your mistakes”. But I’m not the mom to not watch my kid. If he’s on a playground with tons of kids, of course I know where he is. But I’m not fallowing and stopping him from doing things. I yell, I whisper and yeah I sure as hell get mad. But I will never accept judgement from another mom. Our parenting styles are different. And sure, things were “different” 5+ years ago, but the dangers of the surrounding world have ALWAYS been there and always will be. But my son will learn to be a kid.
