So apparently my daughter has to be evaluated because she’s delayed no ducking duh she was alimony born two months early…

Did you have an evaluation or early intervention after she was born? I'm a preemie mom. We had the evaluation and a few sessions. We discharged since she was within normal limits and I work for the company in a different area so if I felt we needed it; I just had to tell the pediatrician and the referral would go in.

@mommyof2girlz, well I did have early Intervention when she was born it was given to me since she was a premie,I never really had the thing where they came out and actually evaluated her I just in my heart thought everything would be OK and you know because she was a little bored behind I just knew she was going to be delayed on somethings but I win for her one year check up and her weight was a little behind and she’s not walking in her motor skills are a little delayed so I probably have to start sessions again

@mommyof2girlz, It just upsets me because as a mother you know I always look at my daughter like she’s normal and she does things where she supposed to there’s some things that worry me like sometimes my daughter does tend to hit herself and she is very hyper active and she is a little behind but I just thought they would take that in consideration because she was a preemie

@intelligentmind2015, the doctor is supposed to look at children's development with age correction if a preemie for the first 2 years

@mommyof2girlz, She didn’t even do that she like looked at her walking she was like oh yeah I’m going to refer her because she’s delayed

@mommyof2girlz, Like I don’t know I think I’m just going to talk to the people that are going to come and see where they want to go from there because it’s like annoying

@intelligentmind2015, my daughter wasn't walking independently at 1 year. And she's behind in weight as well. She started walking at 15 months. Her weight at 15 month check up was 20lbs. She's on toddler formula and we're trying to get her to eat more. I'm a clinician as my career and work with kids. I try to my "just mom" at home. But it's definitely hard when my husband asks me child development questions all the time. I just tell him she's within normal limits with her age or if it's corrected and if I have concerns; I'll call the pediatrician. Our pediatrician I've worked with; with clients before and my husband had him as a kid. So the first thing I was told was I'm "mom". Especially having a preemie.

My youngest isn't babbling yet. I know it's a 2-3 month milestone so if she's not at 4 months; we'll discuss the next steps.

@intelligentmind2015, I understand its difficult having people come in your home and evaluating your daughter. I'm a behavioral clinician. I go in people's homes and assess their child to determine what is happening and how we can change the behavior depending what it is. It's tough. This is your baby. But you also want the best interest for your child. I think 1 is a little young to say you are delayed because not walking. But I'm not a doctor and every pediatrician is different.
