Okay need opinions. My SO and I have been arguing a little bit because I refuse to bring our baby to his parents house because the are heavy smokers in the house. I don’t want my little baby (who has some breathing issues) in that home. His parents are very old fashioned and straight from Poland so they think I’m being ridiculous and don’t believe that second hand smoke is bad. I’ve tried explaining and they simply don’t care to hear it.
We’ve tried inviting them over to see the baby and they won’t because they think we live in a shack (we clearly don’t 🙄). We’ve also tried to set up meetings to go for coffee or for lunch somewhere and they won’t. It’s so frustrating and my partner and I bicker about it because he thinks we should just suck it up for an hour and go visit.
What would you do in this position?? And I being ridiculous?? Helppppp lol

You are definitely not being ridiculous! Smoking is no joke especially second hand!! Stand your ground but be respectful as possible.

Have you tried asking them not to smoke in the house for an hour while you visit ?

@smith0217, I have but their such heavy smokers that even if they didn’t smoke while we’re there it’s still sooooo Smokey in their house. Even with the windows open we still come home and stink and all have to change and take a shower

My parents smoke and my daughter has never seen the inside of their place. If I go visit, we hang out outside and enjoy the nice weather.

@tlistboom, yea that’s our plan for in the summer when the weather is nice but they just are very demanding people and I’m afraid once we get there they will force us inside or take him inside without me knowing. Also Easter is coming and it puts us in a shitty place because it’s a holiday and I don’t want to go. We’ve tried seeing if we can host Easter dinner somewhere else and it’s an absolute NO
