I hadn’t really decided on circumsision going into the hospital to have my son. But when he was born and they asked if I was ready to have them take him back to be circumcised I just couldn’t let him go for some reason. I researched a TON and his daddy isn’t circ’ed so we felt prepared to take on teaching him the ins and outs of keeping himself clean. It’s a truly personal preference but I just didn’t want anyone cutting my brand new baby. In the months following the pedi told me I can always still get it done but I still feel the same. I’m not sure why I feel so strongly about this, but plan to get my daughters ears pierced, some say it’s along the same lines of “not letting the child choose bc it’s completely unnecessary” but we are the parents so it’s 100% up to us and our personal decision. Just research both and know your lil boy will be happy & healthy regardless of his foreskin lol
@samanthaann ive heard horror stories on them! Which is why I'm hesitant, and where I'm going to be living, my cousin said she didn't even know the doctor who did it to her son. She met her once because I guess there it's a certain doctor who does it which is even more scary. Her son healed perfectly though, I guess it just depends but idk if I'm gonna risk it!
@kalieamber19, I am sure they use a local anesthetic but how much it works I don’t know. There is a story you can look up by a nurse saying how it was the most barbaric and awful thing she’d ever seen. I know plenty of moms circ and I’m not here to judge but it’s just a really sad thing!
@kalieamber19, look up circs gone wrong. It’s horrid. And it happens more frequently than you think. I have TWO personal friends who were young and just did what they were “supposed” to do and their sons have had to go in multiple times for follow up surgeries to fix them and one of them still has more to come at 4. It’s just not worth it in my opinion!
@samanthaann I didn't believe in it at first just because I don't want my baby in pain and it's not necessary, it's considered a cosmetic surgery. like do they even numb the area ?? All the boys in my family have been circumcised, so they are all telling me to go for it but I just don't know.
@kalieamber19, I’d definitely say research as much as you can. They’re both equally clean as long as you teach your child proper hygiene! I personally don’t believe in it so you can always message me if you have questions or are leaning that way!
You don’t have to! Uncircumcised is just as clean as circumcised saying one is cleaner than the other is outdated info! Do what you’re comfortable with!
There are plenty of moms who don't immediately get their child circumcised. I've heard about moms who even wait until the child is old enough to decide themselves.
