Idk if it’s different by state but overe here .. if you get on any government help and you guys aren’t married it’s obligated that he pays child support.. unless the only help your getting for the baby is health insurance because some health insurance go by that law and some down.

@keilaa, also if not married you have to do a dna test to put the dads name in the birth certificate. Even doe you can put his last name. And if his the dad and your getting government help or w.e than that’s exactly where they start to send a letter if child support goes through

I didn't know states did that? New Mexico needs to. My step daughters mom put a different man on the birth certificate and they didn't ask for proof that it was his. She is 6 and his name is still on there we can't really take it off.
