I hate when babies get their ears done and the parents who take them to get it done I fine annoying and kinda selfish.. but first heard me out on this.. read and then comment.... Was at the tattoo shop with my baby last night and these parents came in wanting to get their little girl who is 5 yrs and their son who is 8 yrs eared pierced. At the shop we have a rule.. we ask the kids if they are old enough to understand if they want to get their ears pierced or not. Not just one question is ask but multiple. The kids said no and the parents try to persuade the kids to want it because it’s cute or cool or whatever. We told the parents sorry but they don’t want their ears pierced and the parents went of and argued and screamed for about 1:30 hrs. Telling us how they do what they want because the kids our theirs and we have no opinion on what’s best for their kids.. but doesn’t a kid have a choice of a modification that will change their ears for a life time.. and why should a parents want to modify anything on their kids body if the kids constantly said no mommy I don’t want my ears done.... what’s your guys opinion on this situation??

The kids are old enough to know what they want. So no I agree with the tattoo guy. Those kids didn't want them. Poor kids.

So the kids said no to you guys? I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was 19. And I plan on letting my daughter get hers done when she’s old enough. IF she wants them and understands it will hurt and she has to clean them every day. A piercing for an adult isn’t that bad but for a child having a needle jab you is pretty painful.

I get what you're saying my nieces are 6 and 8 and they haven't got there ears pierced and let them decide when they want to or not, if they ever do it's up to them. just like when people tell me my son should have short hair cause he's a boy, no if he wants to trim it or cite it we will do so.

I pierced my oldest and I regret it 100%
She had one ear ripped (she was allergic so they started ripping). I felt like that should've been a personal decision and me and my husband regret it. We were young parents then....
Now we decided to let our youngest decide if she wants to when older and if she says yes we will got to tattoo parlor.
I know this ain't a circumcision post but we also decided against that because that would be modifying our son (in the future if we have one) and we want him to make that decision 🤷

@nerdymommyplus2, that’s another thing.. I agreed with and I spoke to my dude and he was unsure but because he has it done but now he understands and he told me if we ever have a boy he’ll teach him and if we have to go out of our way when the boy is older to get it done for him we will.

I didn’t get my ears pierced til I was 7 or 8 and I wanted it done. I kept asking my mom to please let me get them pierced. She let me get them done for my communion so it was special. I don’t have girls but I would let them decide if the wanted it done. I don’t believe in piercing a babies ears and the kids should definitely want it done!

I absolutely 100% agree with this. Our kids aren’t dolls that we can decorate as we see fit.

My oldest got her ears pierced when she was a baby. But I took them off and she never worn them again because it’s closed and she doesn’t want to get them done. My 5 year old daughter doesn’t want it so I will let her and my oldest get them when they are older and ready. My sister in law keeps trying to persuade them I told her they don’t want them so that’s fine. She told my daughter but you will look pretty. I told her she is pretty without them.

I'm with you. My husband thinks they should be pierced at a year. Thank God we had a boy. So, we skipped that drama
