Yes when its bloody its called the bloody show, and that's a for sure sign of labor, but just the plug isn't really if that makes any sense.

I’ve been losing my plug for a few wks ... my doctor said it’s normal around this time

Mucus plug can be only yellow, white, clear and bloody show can be all 3 of those but has to have a red, pink or brownish tint. You can lose both more that one time or you can lose both at one time. Mucus plug tends to grow back lik it happen to me and bloody show can mean sign of labor but it doesn’t mean always mean it’s coming in a day or 2. I lost my bloody show in 3 sections and went to labor a week after the last one appeared.
