So .. I got a letter in the mail today from the IRS, basically saying someone has used my social security number to file for employment in their 2017 taxes. Obviously it's my ex, the father of my child. I never gave him my social, so he must have done some crazy research to get a hold of it... I'm so pissed. I hope this doesn't affect MY taxes. I filed before he did. I claimed my daughter as well. Not sure if he's trying to claim just me or both me and her as dependents which make no sense because in 2017, we didn't even live with him. I moved out in Feb 2017, with my daughter when I found out he was cheating on me. He pays child support, we have no court order in place, but our daughter lives with me 24/7, and he sees her maybe an hour a week when she goes over to his parents house... I'm so stressed over this. Can't believe he used my social security without my permission or knowledge. I filed my taxes on turbo tax on 2/28/18. It says it was accepted so I'm just waiting on the direct deposit to go through. I hope this doesn't put a hold on my shit

@theinkedmommy -_- I never gave him my social so he used it without my knowledge or permission. I'm reporting it to the credit bureau but I don't know what else to do..

@theinkedmommy I filed online with turbo tax. And I know he gets his taxes done at a professional place!

@mommytomia_ How do you know it's him? I have 2 friends who are going through same exact thing. This year has been crazy with taxes. They can't figure out who it could be.

Chances are you will get your taxes seeing you filed first, they will ask you to prove your information is valid from what you filed they'll ask him to do the same he won't be able to.

Call the social office and let them know of this situation. Let them know it was probably your baby daddy. And you should really take things to court as far as your child situation since he wants to play dirty

I file my taxes on turbo tax I claim my son and his dad and I got a letter in the mail as well saying that there was an issue and when I went down to the IRS they told me my social and name had been used in two different states and it pushed my taxes back for quite a while , I hope this isn’t the case for you good luck !
