So I need opinions: my husband drove one of his friends trucks cuz he was the only sober one, was snowy and ended up hitting a Colvert. He did $400 worth of damage. Thing is his friend asked my husband to pay for it....which I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t for the fact the th have put THOUSANDS of dollars into my husbands truck because his friends keep doing stuff to it. Like one broke the power steering pump, broke his mufflers off, broke his tailgate cuz they jumped on it, broke a window, hit his truck with their vehicles...and not once have we asked for money from them. So I don’t know if it is exactly fair for us to have to pay because of an accident and better then them driving drunk? I don’t know I might be thinking it’s wrong

If this friend has had any part in any of that damage then remind him you never did that to him

I agree with u especially if this is the same friend who caused the damages on ur husbands car.. I would be like ok deduct that from what u owe us in damages of our truck lbs... but I definitely wouldn’t be paying it he should’ve been sober to drive his own vehicle or took the chance of driving himself home and see how far he would have gotten like that.. ur husband did him a favor damages or not

@nikki9109, that’s what I said!! And he is the person who broke most of the stuff! And it was before my son was born and I made the most money so I ended up being the one who paid for it and then recently they broke his mufflers off cuz they jumped on them thinking it could hold their weight and it will cost $800 to fix them 😭😭 all because they need welded on and basically need new ones!

If he takes it to small claims court you would have to pay. Unless you have written confirmation from each and every bit of damage done to your husbands truck proving it wasn't your husbands doing but someone else's. Either way, that was then and this is now. There is no woulda coulda shoulda in the legal world. Sucks but the judge would side with 1. He drove the truck. 2. He wrecked the truck. Reasons be damned. Pay it and in the future take names and hold them accountable.

@lovelily, oh we report our stuff through insurance 😂 so I have document proof and all that stating who did what and how much damage costs lol my degree is in legal so I know how it all works! Lol so they can try but they will end up owing us about $5,000 if that’s how they want to play it lol

With the roads conditions that night I am sure your hubby was trying his best to get everyone home safe. So the friend insurance not cover that?

@lana30319, if he puts it through insurance his rates will go through the roof cuz the story is that he was drunk and my husband isn’t covered under insurance
