Donate them. He can’t have them all his life. I would feel bad too but at the same time it’s a toy and other kids need toys too. So your doing nothing nice.

I always post them online for free if someone gave it as a gift that way it could be a little gift to another little boy or girl but If I bought it I just take it to the thrift store

I keep my son's toys in a plastic storage container. You can save them for the next baby if you plan on having more.

I have my dd help me pick out what to keep and what to donate. Then we donate them. I explain to her "you haven't played with this one in months. How about we give it to another kid that hasn't had this toy yet?" She loves giving other kids new toys. The funny thing is c we take them to the Salvation army which we sometimes shop at and she loves seeing her toys there and the next time we go back if it's gone she's so happy because she knows someone bought it.
