QUESTION : so I’ve been staying at home for the last 2 weeks which means I’ve been constantly nursing and not having to pump as much. Usually I would have to wake up in the middle of the night because I’m leaking or I’d wake up with a knot from the backed up milk. That hasn’t been happening. And the few times that I do pump, I don’t get much. Why is this happening? I mean I’ve been planning on weaning her, but not this soon. What do I do? How can I fix this?

This happened to me. Turns out my daughter was only eating one ounce when I breastfed. I had to feed her and pump in order to keep my supply. To get it back just pump every 3 hours for 15 minutes even at night until you notice increase. It takes a bit, but it should come back. Mine did! Good luck!

@mct, uggghhh 😩 it’s like the beginning all over again

@messiah-mommy it is! Honestly, the lactation consultant wanted me to feed her for 40 minutes and then pump and then bottle feed her again because she didn't eat enough on the breast. That would have meant our entire day would have mostly been feeding time, so at this point I just switched to pumping exclusively and bottle feeding her the breastmilk. I got my supply back and she got her mom back.

@mct, I’m kinda conflicted now because she’ll been 6 months in a few days and we’ve already started baby food here and there. I was gonna start trying to wean her in like the next month. So I don’t know if it’s even worth the headache. But the again I still wanted to be able to give her my milk even if she isn’t nursing anymore 🤦♀️ this is difficult

@messiah-mommy it really is hard. In the end you have to do what works for you. At this point, they say solids aren't actually benificial nutritionally, they are just used to teach them how to eat. The milk is actually more important. I don't know how true that is, but you might want to check with pediatrician and see what they think before you make your choice.
