Anyone have a little one that's going to feeding therapy? My 15 month old son can't eat anything lumpy or too thick (texture aversion & sensory issue). He likes to eat purees mostly. He's made a lot of progress but it will take time. In my case, we found he has an upper lip tie as well as a small mouth which is likely the cause. It can be frustrating because you see kids his age eating table foods like champs and the most he can do right now is soft breads like pancakes 🙁

My friend has a one year old that refuses to eat anything. And there is another mom on here that had their child in feeding therapy i believe!

W@braindeadmama : Wow! Well at least mine will eat pureed foods but it sucks when we try to go out to eat with him. I have to bring his food and it's usually messy.

They all go at their own pace!! Her son won’t even eat puréed because he had acid reflux so bad. It’ll get easier. Just give him time and keep offering it

@braindeadmama Yes, that's true. He's getting better a little at a time. Thank you for your input! 😊

My son did! It helped a lot. Most of it is just maturity. He ate only puréed food for almost a year. My son was tongue tied as a newborn and we had him clipped but they said it could cause some issues in the future.

@amouryaya09 How long did your son go to therapy for? My insurance authorized up to 6 months so I'm hoping it won't take that long!

@danielac, he only had 2 appointments and he made progress. I think he was just ready honestly. I continued to introduce things like how I did with baby food. Now he has a variety of 7 different things that he will and can eat. Their tips help a lot so I don’t think he will need 6 months.

@danielac, my son he gets therapy due to being in Nicu but he had the same problem where he would choke with his food or swallow his food straight down what the therapist did was give him this rubber T thing and put it one did of his mouth to let him chew on it and then do the same with the other side of his mouth, after awhile he got use to it and she started putting baby food so he would chew it even though it was solids after a while we started giving him a few tables little by little so now he eats really good whatever we give him

@famrodriguez5 Yes, he's doing something similar in his sessions too. They give him different tools to chew on and I have to do oral motor exercises at home to help him stretch his mouth. I'm glad to hear of others that went thru this too ☺
