If they induce they give you pitocin which is basically medicine to help your body go into labor. They only do it if medically necessary or if you go past 40 weeks. My office only lets you go to 41 weeks I believe because anything past then it gets harmful for mom and baby

Pitocin is artificial oxytocin the hormone your body makes naturally to induce contractions.. also one of two hormones needed for breast milk production. If you consider artificial hormones medicine, then yes it's medicine what they give you to induce you.

Say I go over 40 weeks & they try to induce me. I can still do a natural birth ?

@keilaa you don't have to have any pain meds that's a choice just for you they may ask and they do tend to push it more being induced but you don't have to take any

@keilaa, no it makes it hurt worse not less. It's not a pain medication. And it's given to you by IV not through shots.
