@mommyirene, if your milk sits in there for longer than 3 hours it will start to decrease. As long as you pump every 2-3 hours it will increase/stay the same. I had problems when Noah was 2 weeks old I had to put him on formula and quit cold turkey I tried to keep breastfeeding by pumping and I noticed that if I went to long without pumping I would get a lot in the first session but if I went back later to pump again longer than 3 hours later I would get less and less each time.

You have to move milk to make milk . The more you remove, the more you will get. Every 2 to 3 hours for the first 6 weeks is recommended practice around the clock
@beemommyof3, so the more often I pump or latch him on my breast the more milk I’ll get?

No. food has nothing to do with it It is all supply and demand. You should eat and drink normally. The more you demand the more supply you will have. No supplements because they have a lot if side effects and aren't proven to increase supply.
@beemommyof3, is there anything I should be eating or drinking more of?

Supply and demand is 100% Best way to maintain. Also make sure to rub his saliva on your nipples a few times a weeks to keep the milk adjusted to need.

You need to pump every 2 to 3 hours to maintain supply. Also baby needs 1 to 1.25 ounce per hour which equals out to 24 to 34 ounces approx per day.
