You know I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. While I’ve discussed the horror that occurred on October 3rd 2017 with my therapist and court is fast approaching I feel as if a bill or hell even a law needs to be passed. My son was taken during an assault by his father, and hid in Kansas City for 3 days. There’s was no help from KCPD, court advocates, Crimes Against Children Detectives. Nobody. The ONLY reason my son was brought into the Raytown police station was because while in the Jackson County Jail his father was given an ultimatum. Hand over your child to authorities or receive more prison time. And that was only AFTER I told KCPD I was going public with news stations about them not assisting. My thing is since I got my son back I’ve seen 2 separate cases just on the other side of the river in Kansas City Kansas where the mother was physically assaulted and the child/children were taken against their will by the BIOLOGICAL father. Missing persons AND amber alerts were issued for both cases. Even though there was NO current custody order in place. Those children were found within hours. Those fathers were arrested and charged. Action was taken. The reasoning why I received NO ASSISTANCE when my 11 month old helpless son was taken at gun point by his drunk father was because he was simply, the father. We had no custody order in place. Even though the police agreed evidence was overwhelming, witness accounts from neighbors, and pictures were taken from the scene, no help was given. I was on my own. Can you imagine how that feels? Your baby literally ripped from your arms and you have no damn idea if you’ll ever see them again? And nobody will help you. This needs to change. NOW. I’m serious I want a bill, a law, and act or SOMETHING passed. Still to this day my sons father is not being held responsible for negligence and endangerment legally EVEN THOUGH it has been proven SUBSTANTIATED with the Missouri Department Of Social Services. Enough is enough. I WILL advocate for my son, for other mothers who were in my situation, and children. I won’t be silenced anymore.
