I like the shape of a diaper bag over a backpack, because to me it's more accessible and easier to pack, but I do use a backpack for long days (zoo/museum) or travel.
Like nomli said it's alot easier to pack. The backpack I had didn't have enough compartments so everything was just on top of each other. I definitely recommend getting one with lots of compartments and space

I prefer the back pack just because it’s a little more spacious for mine & baby’s stuff
