I wouldn’t recommend rice cereal so early, he’s way too young. It’s not recommended until 6 months. The more you nurse the more you produce and that means the more he gets to eat.

Or if you’re formula feeding him you could up how much you give him by half an ounce.

Most likely he wants to comfort suckle which cant be done with a bottle. Do not out cereal in a bottle. He is way too young. It is an empty filler and wont give the nutrients needed. They dont need much milk at a week old. Overfeeding can give him a lot of problems

@kcamps My husband said that the doctor may put him on Rice Cereal. I wasn't really for sure. I am sorry. I give him formula and I also give him breast milk. The doctor told me that he should only be eating 2 ounces. So, it is just crazy that he wants more. Thanks for your help. Sorry about the rice cereal. I wasn't for sure about that.

Cereal has lots of arsenic and no nutrition value. Make sure to pace feed the baby with a bottle and use a pacifier for comfort. No need for more than 1 oz to 1.5 oz a feeding right now.

@zackemilymcguire, don’t be sorry! You’re a new mom and didn’t know, it happens. But, if you want to do something like that make sure you always ask his doctor first because they can always give you the best advice.😊
