@beemommyof3, @melody_momof5, so I bought some strips and they supposedly test alcohol in the milk. I had 1 Sapporo beer and it supposedly came out positive for detecting alcohol in the milk. So how does this work!? First time I breastfeed

Those strips test positive in orange juice.

The amount of liquor in breastmilk is less than 1 percent. I drink wine and breast feed at the same time. No need to pump and dump. No need to wait at all. Just nurse your baby and enjoy a drink.

@beemommyof3, since I don’t drink 1 beer gets me tipsy. Is that still safe?

Yes. this is the thing. The only issue with drinking and nursing is, are you too tipsy to hold them baby for ex: you drop the baby, smother the baby, something causing harm to the baby etc. Drinking causes no harm on the baby, but if you are too impaired to nurse that is different. I hope that makes since. I can drink 2 bottles of wine and I still nurse.

@beemommyof3, oh okay! I see. No i haven’t gotten drunk like that. I just occasionally have 1 drink or 2. But thanks for letting me know! I no longer have to spend 15$ on them 8 stripes!
