Men just don’t realize how physically and mentally exhausting it is to deal with our children all day every day without breaks or help. Granted, I am also in nursing school so I do have that time away but it only adds more stress. I’ve been dealing with a fussy, tantrum throwing 2 year old since 6 am in the midst of potty training and of course I didn’t sleep last night like every other night. He’s been here for less than 2 hours and he says he’s about to go lay down and go to bed.. lol excuse me?! After I’ve dealt with this shit all day and night by myself 6 months pregnant and trying to cook, clean, and study. He’s gone to the gym and done everything he wanted to do and all I get is to take a bath.. it’s easier for him to get our son to sleep now anyway bc my big belly gets in the way and I’m so uncomfortable. I feel like it’s the least he could do, I could give a damn if he worked all day. So have I, just like every other day and I’ve gotta get up earlier than him and do 3 billion more things than he has to.

I feel you so hard on this when my man gets home from work he's so focused on his needs he doesn't see I'm only able to focus on our son's needs allllll damn day and need a break.. Plus preggo af it gets hard. It's not an easy job like they think. He always says "if I could switch places with you I would" and I think bullshit you'd be crying to get this baby out of you and to go back to work all day after like the 3rd day of my life, but ok!

@heidi3581, exactly! My SO can’t even handle the crying and whining by himself. He’s gotta watch him while I’m at clinical Thursday night and I know he’s gonna end up going to his mama’s with him bc he can’t just go home, Cook, clean, and bathe the child like a mom does. Oh and watch him and keep him on the potty consistently!

@heidi3581, I’m just like, you literally ride around in a van the majority of the day and then you get to go blow off steam at the gym every single days meanwhile I’m trying to memorize 8384773748488383388 drugs/ disease processes, pass these tests, take care of my patients and do the hours of paperwork that it requires, make sure my child’s taken care of and drop off, pick up, go grocery shopping, clean, cook, etc... like where even is the comparison lol. They would definitely be crying after day 1 in our shoes.

I tend to agree with you there. It seems like men go into fatherhood with this role in mind "I bring home the bacon, wife tends to the children" When my husboy is home, he tries, I'll give him that, but he'll take off to his friends house for sometimes days at a time. Its a good thing I love being around my son otherwise I'd be like, when is my break?
I tried to talk about this in a mom group once on FB, never again, I was basically told by all the single mother's that I should be grateful he's in the picture. Seriously? So its okay that I'm unhappy about certain things because he's still around? Twisted logic.

@leroydoom, that’s ridiculous. I was a single mom throughout my entire pregnancy with my son and up until he was a year old and I remember envying moms in relationships, but I also still empathized with mothers who dealt with shit like we are currently dealing with.

@babyjjsmommy Thanks for that. They really made me feel guilty, the group mod came into the conversation and said "She's not being ungrateful" and I remember being like, "Thank you!"
Its just a shame we have to go thru this BS at all.

@leroydoom, exactly! I don’t understand what it is about a man’s brain that lacks the common sense of understanding what we deal with. I know that some men have difficult careers/ jobs but what about women? I mean on top of careers, we have the weight of the world. I hate when I say something and I’m deemed a “feminist” simply because I do believe that women are under appreciated and taken for granted, to say the least.

I mean, I love my man, we have a very intense, sometimes complicated relationship, sometimes its just too much, it weighs on me, he's a good father, he's just not the greatest partner.

@leroydoom, oh I feel you girl. I love mine too. He’s my son’s “daddy” even when he didn’t have to step in and play that role. He’s also a great dad, but same situation- not always the best support as a partner.
Sharmane Trejo·
@babyjjsmommy They realize it when you leave the kids with them and go somewhere else for awhile lol, at least mine did, we were living separately and he kept our son for a few days, when I came to pick up our son he said, "I don't know how you do it, he wore me out." Lol

I love, love my boy, there is something truly special between a mother and son. My boy keeps me going, if it wasn't for him, I'd have taken my life long ago. Its like he came into my world when I felt like I didn't have a purpose. Now I know what it is <3

And now I'm getting all mushy lol
You're one strong lady, I hope he realizes what a gem he has.
