My sister is going back into rehab tomorrow, after 6 years of trying to get sober and going in & out of places. Last year she married an active addict, left him 5 months later, and has been living with my parents and using. My mom watches my son at her house on Fridays and I’m praying that my sister wasn’t high around him. I know that at my husband’s birthday dinner last month she was high, but held my tongue since it was Matt’s birthday. I’m praying that this time sticks, cause if it doesn’t I’m going to have to remove my son from her life for good, and he’s already lost Matt’s sister for other reasons.
A little background, my sister has been a drug user since she was 16, after she became addicted to the pain killers she was prescribed after literally falling down the side of a mountain on her bike and was in a coma for 2 weeks. She’s now 35.
My parents are older and I don’t know how much more of this they can take.

@lizibear84 ..addicts need tough love...its simple she has to have had enough of doing same getting results ...wish her well..some people have addictive personalities so its harder for them..there is always an underlying cause why people become an addict..usually occurs by the time someone is 5/6yrs old...if one of their needs aren't met or they get abused.sexually.mentally.verbally.don't feel loved..its not just now their actions

@sherrynygirl, She has a genetic predisposition to addiction. Her bio mom was a 25 year old drug abuser living on the streets. My sister has her share of issues.
I don’t want to sound rude, but I know the causes of addiction, genetic vs psychological. Both my sister and brother are addicts (brother has been sober for 15 years), and I did my dissertation on addiction. I just need some support right now for myself and my son.

@sherrynygirl, Not even his safety. She’s not violent or anything, I’m more concerned with the emotional aspects of her being in and out of his life
