Ladies what’s the best way to save money? I want to buy a house but don’t have the funds right now…

It’s all about self control. Example a burger sounds really good right now I’m gonna go get one. “Do you really need it?” Omg yes I need it. “Correction, you just want it. Is it really worth spending a couple bucks to get a burger?” Yes, it is. “Correction. If you bought a burger every day that’s 2 dollars. By the end of the month that would of been 60 dollar to put towards savings. You really just gotta have self control and that’s it.

Save your taxes. Ramen noodle soup type of budget. Lmao

Get rid of things you can live without ie, we got rid of cable and bought an Amazon fire stick. The toddler can still watch shows but we aren't paying monthly for a service. Really take a look at what you spend on. I stay at home but have gotten into resale to make some extra money here and there. Can buy stuff you need cheap (kids clothes, furniture even toys) and make some money selling stuff you don't need. I would look into the app VarageSale if there is a community in your area. Really have to plan out grocery lists and look for what is on sale and make what is on sale work for multiple things. Do research about different towns and the housing prices. We lived in an apartment in the town we went to high school in but house prices are ridiculous and so are taxes, looked 30 minutes out of that town to a smaller but still nice town and are now paying a mortgage on a 4 bedroom 2 bath house that was the cost of our 1 bedroom apartment.

Yes, look at where you want to live. Houses in the town we had an apartment were average $500,000. Two towns over houses were $200-300. We bought a house twice the size of our 2br apartment, plus it has a yard, basement, attic, and garage, and it's about the same as the apartment. Granted, the amount you need to close is ridiculous, but that depends on how much the house is and what you negotiate.

Figure out where you can cut things. Budget groceries more, do you really need cable or a landline, see if you can get a better car insurance deal, when your phone contract is up look at other carriers to see if their prices are better (we saved close to $80 switching carriers), eat out less or not at all, buy bulk and make lots of freezer meals, buy cheaper meats and veggies, cut down on coffee or cigarettes.

Just make a list of everything you spend money on during the month, and see what is necessary vs what is nice but you can do without for awhile.

Get a separate account you put money in everytime you get paid. I have 2...one for my savings and 1 for my son. Saved about 5,000 for him..in like 8 ish months completely paid for preschool and he just turned one. Just gotta have the control to not touch it. It's for the future...i don't even look at those accounts. Set up so my transfers go through when I get paid. Don't even know it's missing!

@rmreed, yes he’s a roofer but winter is rough because of the snow and rain and they can’t work in bad weather

@arthuranna26 Yes. You can save 3 grand by next year. 2 dollars is 6 grand and so on depending on how much you want.
