Welcome to motherhood!!! It's diffrence for every baby but you can help them start to learn the difference between day and night. With my DD I kept it bright, noisy and her active during the day and at night I turned down/our all lights and kept noise at a minimum.

Around 3 months I was able to get her to switch since she was able to stay awake longer without becoming over tired in the matter of minutes. Like the other mama said, lights and noises throughout the day even if she's sleeping and dark and quiet at night.

Swaddling and pacifier* that's what saved us from a week of lack of sleep. By a month and a half she settled. And we took her ques for naps and now she sleeps during the night. There's a pattern to be noticed is all. But like @mommiesaremagical14 said it's different for every baby :)

At 3 months Jordan was able to sleep at nights . Just hang in there ! And always sleep when he does . And if u can't sleep when he's asleep just lay there and rest your eyes at least. Try and keep him up during the day witch will be a challenge cause all you and baby will wanna do is sleep. Get help when u need it. When I couldn't take it anymore hubby or parents took over .
