So I have a question. Do you think it's wrong to tell a kid to not let their teachers know we moved…

It could go either way. My friend lived in one city and her kids went to school in another city. All she did was get a PO Box in the city her kids when to school in and used that for the address.

I wouldn’t tell them to lie but I would tell them not to tell anyone unless they ask. I would also explain to them as simply as to how telling people that they moved can possibly force them to change schools. Ask them if that’s what they want and continue to encourage them not to talk about the move yet until you give them permission to do so. That way, your not telling them to lie. Just tell them not to volunteer the information @tiredmom,

@db413 @withlovedkj @raquely I have not told them to flat out lie. Just don't volunteer any information. But the BM is convinced that that is lying. As soon as we move out of Chatham county they can no longer go to a Chatham county school. I'm good with taking them to school for the last few months. And the only reason I would be going through all of that hassle if for my SD, she doesn't do change well.

The school year is almost over...yes it's wrong to tell them to lie...but weigh the outcome moving close to the end of the year and having to resettle or just waiting it out and begin fresh next fall...i choose wait and tell a little white lie and make sure they know lying is horrible lol

@tiredmom, you’re just doing what you need to. It’s horrible to change school. Especially with only like 3 months left. I’d really set up a P.O. box just for the school so the school doesn’t find out.

We went to a really awful school where I can guarantee the majority of the administration hated my entire family. The sure treated us poorly enough. So we liked and said we moved to the next school district until we really did move. And isn't you SD's mom questioning you like the pot calling the kettle black?

If it's found out you could be on the hook to pay for the school. It was in the news in NJ last year, and the parents were fined like $30,000 or something. If you move mid school year, usually they don't make you switch schools if you're still nearby, at least that's what they told my dad when we moved zones when my sister was in highschool. You just may not get buses

@nomli I didn't know that! They're already in an out of district school, we will be moving to a new county. That's why they won't be able to finish there.
