I think my son has adhd but I have been scared to bring him into the doctor because I was afraid of meds. What have the meds done for her? Is she super tired?

My cousin has ADHD and the medicine has helped him focus from childhood through adulthood so well. He says its necessary because without it he may be doing homework and focus on a word and then 20 mins later he's researching the origin of that word and the homework is the last thing on his mind. @missheatherbaby the meds calm her down enough to where she can focus and she able to make better choices and most of all she not all over the place and no the one she on doesn't make her tired

@missheatherbaby she is on foclin but she also has odc so she takes meds for that but of they start your son off small and find what does works for him it's better then just putting him on a high dose that's what I did with my daughter and now we know what works and don't work

@terresa.nash, did you have to try several meds or did that one do the trick first try? Thanks for all your help! You are making me feel much better about taking him. He’s also 8.

@missheatherbaby well I did research on adhd and saw the different meds and read up on them and this one stood out for me so I told her doctor I wanted to try it and she was like OK and after a week she was doing better in school and the teachers said she was like a new kid and no problem I asked questions too

My son has severe ADHD and PTSD. he's been on meds since 4 years old... I've lost several good jobs over this hospitalizations anything you name it. He's now 10 and finally mellowing out fewer incidents at school. He is on 4 different medicines. He isn't allowed in school if he isn't medicated. Medication is a God send. Many people don't agree with ADHD. But they don't do have to deal with him I do.

Right i say this same thing. No one understands unless they were in our situation. Oh medicines arent good for them blah blah blah. Yea they help them make good choices and stop fidgeting and help them calm down and focus so they can do their work. My son was off it for a year because he thought he could handle himself and control his self enough to calm down and do his work but no he got back on it yesterday. He has been failing since the day he stopped taking it a year ago. He wants to be calm and normal as some call it so he can stop fidgeting and be distracted by everything and do his work but its physically impossible for him to do it on his own without help. It doesnt work for some kids but it works for mine , theres such a difference in him on the meds. Yea, he isnt what society calls normal because his brain is wired different and goes 10000 miles a hour but i love him for it and have always adored his silly, hyper personality . I luv him for who he is and he is normal to me.
