I need suggestions! My daughter has been sick since Friday, over the weekend she was running high fevers (I brought her to the ER) and Monday I took her back to the dr they’re all saying the same thing that it’s viral and needs to pass on its own, which is fine but she is so uncomfortable I feel so bad, she’s really congested/ cranky, the poor kid can’t even sleep comfortably because she’s so stuffy, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make her more comfortable? I’m giving her Tylenol/ Motrin around the clock (alternating) I’ve tried baby Vick’s vapo rub, I’ve tried zarbees cough meds, I’ve tried highlands cough meds, sitting her in the bathroom with the hot water running, and we have a humidifier! I’m out of ideas!!! TIA!
@aubreylynnsmommy, oh good, I’m glad you knew to research it first 😍 awesome job in school also!!! I have an education degree 🙌🏻👍🏻 I love anything related to helping children 😍
@zachattackmomma, I’m actually in school for animal nursing which is a lot similar to humans (believe it or not) lol and the “old school” method to bringing a fever down is rubbing alcohol, but studies have shown it makes it worse, it actually traps the heat and makes the fever go higher. So I wasn’t going to do that lol
@jmw24815, luckily her fever came down now she’s just very uncomfortable, but thank you!! I’ll look into it lol
@aubreylynnsmommy, rubbing alcohol is VERY harsh on baby skin... please seek a doctors advice on something like that!
It seemed to bring down my sons high fever and got rid of the congestion. I soaked a wash cloth in rubbing alcohol and wiped his forehead, his chest, his back and the bottoms of his feet.
@aubreylynnsmommy, it’s a machine used to open up your pores and what not you can find it in the same aisle as the humidifier. Unless she has a nebulizer that thing works wonders when they’re congested. Usually the doctor will give you the machine for free. Or at least our doctor did. I don’t exactly know why rubbing alcohol works but I was desperate and several elderly ladies told me that’s what they used back in the day
Take a wash cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol and wipe her down head to toe and give her a frozen popsicle. Lots of water water and pedialyte. If you have a face steamer you can drop a few saline drops in and let her inhale it.
@aubreylynnsmommy exactly!!! Plus I couldn't get that thought out of my head. But luckily my son was old enough to be able to do it for me so I didn't have to
@tiredmom, I told my fiancé he can do it 😂 I know it’s designed so you don’t get anything in your mouth but knowing my luck I’ll get one with a defect and a mouth full of snot 😂😂
@aubreylynnsmommy oh it's sooooo nasty. I had to make my son do it to my daughter when she was little. I couldn't.
@tiredmom, my fiancé suggested the nose Frida last night, it just seems gross to me, but I’ll do it if I have too 😂😂😂 and that’s not a bad idea thank you!
Nose Frida works it helps suck all the snot out. Or put the adult Vicks on your chest and hold her there, with a shirt on.
@zachattackmomma, thank you!!! I just wish I could make her more comfortable 😭
@zachattackmomma, thank you! And like I said it’s all the same thing and rubbing alcohol is the last thing you do for hypothermia lol
