The lease isn't up until March 1st. My sis husband wanting one of us to switch and get on the lease so he can take his name off. I'm thinking he trying to get off the lease early so he can leave early so he won't have to pay the light bill he owes my stepdad and where they can get their deposit and dip out on us. Can you get off a lease a month early if someone puts their name on it and get your deposit back?? They keep calling and texting my mom so we can come up there but we waiting until the lease is actually up lol... I've never been on a lease just use to live with my brother so idk how this works.

I don’t think they can get the deposit back if someone takes over the lease. Not all landlords will even allow a change in lease

@eryka616 I thought maybe he could get the deposit then we'd have to put up a deposit if we wanted to continue living here

@eryka616 My brother talked to my sis and asked her what's going on. She said that someone needs to sign the lease in the morning with them so her husband can get his name off of it. Cause if not they will have to go to court so the judge can sign them off then we will be evicted. Idk if that's true or not but he wanting out of the lease now so they can leave before the lease is up. So he won't have to help with the light bill just what I said lol. Smh sorry af.
