Yup. But couldn’t get it, I would still have to pay a lot unfortunately.

I paid 4600 a year for just my daughter and I. I actually cancelled hers this year since I can pay for all of her stuff out of pocket.

I’m in the same boat. Tried to get my son separate insurance through the state since he has special needs, but I made too much to qualify. Health insurance is a mess right now.

@jayw, not sure if this is an option with your benefits but having an FSA or HSA helps so much. It reduces your tax burden. Mine comes out of my paycheck pretax. I try to estimate how much I’ll spend in hospital bills and have that put in a separate account. I’m about to increase my HSA because I had no idea I was pregnant when I was choosing my policy last year.

I plan to give birth at a birthing center, which isn’t even covered by my health insurance. *sigh* I plan to itemize my health care costs next year, it will definitely be more than $12k. Yikes!

Another reason why I love being Canadian. Free health care, and starting this year free prescriptions for anyone under 25. Meaning all meds for our kids are FREE. MOVE TO CANADA!!! lol seriously no stress here man
