So crazy story. My mom who watches my kids while I work calls and tells me she is sick! My girls have not been over since Tues. And she calls me last night! Keep in mind my kids are not sick so old where she caught a cold from. I asked if her heat is on since its been all the down to 14 degrees on some nights. She claims she can't take the heat. She is liable to pass out. So I asked so my kids won't get sick can I bring them a space heater. She told me the following (summed conversation up)
Her lease says she can't have those there
I might set something on fire
The kids might get burnt
Her light bill gonna be outrageous. Wtf mom? Seriously???

If I was you I'd stop taking me to your mom's house it doesn't seem like she cares about their well-being anyway it's cold over there and I would have told her it was me but if you're so damn hot you can go sit outside when it's cold my kids don't get sick some mothers don't understand they really don't I think it's because our grandparents they can treat bear grandkids any kind of way

There are landlords that have it in the lease that you can't have space heaters so she maybe telling the truth. They are also incredibly dangerous and hot and have a risk for fire. It would probably be better for her to just turn up the heat for the kids.

@mct well that is something new to me. And was hard to believe. Due to my mom has been known to make crap up to make her look good.

@emmaleigh if i had the financial ability to put them in day care I definitely would. Trust me I have thought about how to make it happen. But on the flip side. My kids are the only grandkids that will deal with my mom. Her others kept at a distance. And my parents are the only grandparents my kids have. So its important for them to know who they are. While they are here. I just hate the shit we go through

@mct exactly. Even our homeowners insurance asks if we have them and would raise our rates. They do increase the risk of a house fire. Someone in our county died from one catching fire last month. The cold doesn't cause people to get sick, germs do.

@worlds.okayest.mom I know germs are the cause of sickness. I don't like my kids running around with running noses. And cold as heck (my baby don't keep a socks on) and a study I read tells of how wearing them helps keeps the body temp regulated.
