thursday january 11th at 8pm i went to the hospital for my induction which wasn’t to start until midnight. they gave me my IV on my upper lower inner arm (if that makes sense) and it was soooo miserable. i couldn’t sleep for crap it hurt so bad. at midnight they gave me cervidil to hopefully ripen my cervix so i could dilate easier for the pitocin i was going to get in the morning. of course i wasn’t able to sleep much bc i was in the hospital & the nurses came in so much to check my bp & vitals, plus my iv was killing me. at 6am (friday morning) they took my cervidil out & started me on pitocin around 9am after re-doing my iv in my right hand (didn’t work) then moved it finally to my left hand. i contracted all day until 5pm, but my contractions didn’t really start hurting until 4pm. they checked my cervix and saw i was only a fingertip & 70% effaced, which is what i was when i first got there the previous night. i was so discouraged and they stopped my pitocin so i could rest that night & have another dose of cervidil which was start at 8pm. 6am the next morning (saturday) they took my cervidil out & started me back on the pitocin. about 3 or 4 hours into my pitocin i got checked again, a tight 2cm & 70% effaced. my doctor decided to move me to a labor room & break my water. at 1:30pm saturday afternoon they broke my water & that’s when the real contractions started 😩 i held off as long as i could without pain meds. i bounced on the birthing ball & sat in the bathtub trying to ease the pain (pitocin is no joke). around 7pm i finally ordered nubain to hold me off until the epidural which i got around 8pm. right before getting the nubain & epidural, the pumped me w/ fluids which blew my iv. at this point i’m contracting every 2 mins & in absolute pain. i started sobbing bc i had to get yet ANOTHER iv (this would be my 4th). finally they gave me another one in my right wrist (after sticking me 4 times) & started my nubain which made me feel high asf😂💀 then an hour later came my epidural which only numbed my stomach so i couldn’t feel the contractions. a couple hours later i started feeling every single contraction in my vagina and the pain wasn’t easing up. i was sobbing at this point 😭 i hadn’t slept in days. after crying in pain all night at around 5 or 6 sunday morning i was begging my mom for a c-section. they checked my cervix & i was all the way effaced and 6cm. i got another dose of meds through my iv to try to relax me which helped only a little, enough so i could nap before pushing. i turn to my left side & 20 mins later i felt the strongest urge to push. i was screaming at my bf to call my mom bc she left to get coffee and to call my nurse bc i was hoping it was the real thing! i went from a 6 to a 10 in a matter for 20-30 mins since i was able to relax w/ my meds. after 19 hours of labor & 25 mins of pushing my baby boy Karter Anthony was born at 8:55am January 14th weighing 7lbs 4oz & 20 1/2 inches long 💙
