WARNING: VENTING MAMA/TODDLER TEACHER
WARNING: VENTING MAMA/TODDLER TEACHER
So I work at a daycare with 12 toddlers in my class. We had two snow days and the center was closed. I’m friends with most of the parents on FB and it irritated me to NO END to see them posting how much they were ready for their kids to go back to school! They “can’t handle” two days with their own children? How do you think I feel watching 12 of them all week?!
AND JUST FOR THE RECORD: I enjoyed spending the whole 48 hours bonding with my little guy! I love building our relationship and learning new things together.
Why do some people have children if they don’t like spending time with them. SMH
Rant Over.

I used to feel the exact same way when I was working at a daycare. Parents would come in on Mondays and say “omg they were a nightmare all weekend! Idk how you do this all day” and I always wanted to say “yeah I deserve a raise.”

I hate that shit. I have my days where my kids are up my ass all day but it’s part of being a mom and I wouldn’t change a thing! My oldest is 7 and time really goes so fast. You have to enjoy every moment with your kids even the bad days.

As I have been on both sides of this fence I’ll explain it like this. When little ones are out of their routine it makes for a tough day for everyone. It may not necessarily be that they don’t like spending time with their children as much as their children are having difficulties coping with the upheaval of their schedule/routine

@kjgirl, I can see that but in my opinion parents should know their children’s schedule and follow it closely. I know what times my son usually eats and naps at school so I follow those and he seems to handle it well!! No crazy business!

@theycallmemommy, I think it hurts my feelings more than makes me angry because I would LOVE to spend all day with my son but it doesn’t pay the bills! I count every minute together a blessing!

@mswedes, we do deserve a raise! Hahaha! I think the biggest thing is most parents don’t follow through with consequences like we do because they don’t want to hurt their child’s feelings but in all honestly it’s just hurting them more!

@kristinajohnson6, I think @kjgirl, means that changes in their routine like kids think well today is my day to go here and when snow days don’t allow that the children get out of a routine and it can cause meltdowns.

@damn.it.red, I totally get that too! Me and my toddler class have been stuck in the classroom for 3 weeks due to temperatures being below 30 degrees! It definitely throws off their schedule but it’s apart of parenting

@kristinajohnson6, I understand it’s apart of parenting. I’ve been a mother for almost 10 years but it doesn’t make it any easier on the kids.

@damn.it.red, I wasn’t trying to start a debate about children routine. I was just venting that it annoyed me how parents post that they can’t wait for someone else to watch their child.
