I was really looking forward to a water birth and learned today at my hospital tour that my hospital doesn’t allow a water birth. You can only use the tub up until it’s time to push then will have to give birth on the bed which looks way more uncomfortable than the ones on the lower floor for women getting an epidural. I feel pretty blah seeing what my hospital offers for a natural birth compared to what I’ve heard and seen from others experience with their natural birth/ hospital 😕

Yeah, I am looking into a birthing center for this reason. I’m still not 100 percent sure if I’ll go with that option or just hire a doula. But... hospitals need to offer more than a bed. It’s the most uncomfortable way to give birth.
Bring a birthing ball (yoga ball). That helps too. You also have the option to use a birthing bar that should be attached to the bed when it’s time to push.

My friend did a birthing center and loves it. She’s having her second in March at the same one 👍🏻

@zachattackmomma, I’m taking a tour of one next week. Very excited. It looks like you get your own little apartment, not just a room.

@lulu85_18, that’s the thing about the hospital I’m going to and their natural birth suites. There’s only a bed that have no leg/foot stirrups or the attachments for the birthing bar. For some assbackwards reason those aren’t even offered on that floor and are on the floor that you would be on if you were to get an epidural. So literally my only options and resources for relief are that damn good for nothing bed, the tub I can’t give birth in, a ball and walking around the suite which is a bit cramped. I’m feeling so discouraged about the natural birth experience I wanted 😕 if I don’t have much to rely on for relief then I’ll feel like I can’t do it.

I don’t understand why the difference in the epidural and non-epidural suites. So odd. It’s almost to encourage you to not choose that option. Absolutely terrible.
