I've never needed documentation for him. I always bring his birth certificate, especially since I still have my maiden name and he has his dad's, just in case, but no one has ever asked. No one ever checked to see if his carseat was FAA approved, either.

I always bring my son’s birth certificate. Sometimes they ask for it, but most times they don’t.
