@jasiahsmom I gave my son diluted gerber baby oatmeal in his bottles at 4 months because he couldn't keep just his formula down, he spit up half the bottle when he was fed. Pay attention to your child and follow your intuition, I was told by several people that putting a lite Gerber oatmeal is his bottle would help his spitting up and he doctor agreed. I started giving him baby foods and baby oatmeal as meals when he was 5 months because the formula wasn't enough for him anymore, he was already at 8 ounces and still wanted more all the time so that's when I knew I had to upgrade to baby food.

@jasiahsmom, Even WIC won’t give solids until they’re 6 months old. If you do get WIC, I would talk with the nutritionist and they can likely give you in more detail why waiting is better. The cereal doesn’t make them full, contrary to popular belief. It’s mainly used to help babies with severe acid reflux.
@jasiahsmom, I gave you my opinion. It’s your child you can do what you please. Talk with your doctor first.

@jasiahsmom, I’m not gonna go with google for the health of my kid. Cereal is empty calories. Their gut isn’t developed enough until 6 months, but he’s your child, so ultimately it’s up to you. Check the American Academy of Pediatrics for a more detailed description of why its best to wait.
@skylersmommy11916, @theinkedmommy, @damn.it.red, google is saying that 4 months if fine for baby food? But if not could i introduce cereal? Or oatmeal?
My son was 5 months when I started giving him baby food. I first introduced baby cereal and made it the way he would eat it (had a few experiments lol) and the by the time he was 6 months he was eating Gerber fruits and veggies. I've been putting cereal in his bottles since he was 4 months though with the ok from his doctor since he had tummy troubles and spit up a lot, so he was used to the taste.
When they could sit up on their own. Around six months. I’d give fruit at breakfast along with a bottle, a fruit and veggie for lunch. Then a veggie and meat at dinner. But when you start out you only give one baby food for a couple days to make sure they aren’t allergic. Like start with carrots and give it to them for two or three days to see if they are allergic or not.
