Hi mom's and soon to be moms!! I am currently 37 weeks and preparing for our baby girl 😊 please share your advice on a bassinet. I have a crib and have been told that I should get a bassinet for my husband and I bedroom. Is it necessary to use a bassinet or should I put her in her crib in her room or If I get the bassinet how long do I allow her to sleep in it before transitioning her to her crib? Thanks so much for sharing!!
@noturprops thanks so much, this is my first and I feel I will probably have some separation anxiety as well so I will probably end up getting the bassinet 😊
@bwjones6 Depending on how big of a bassinet you get, I let my daughter sleep in one until she was 8 months old, then I put her in her crib...in my room because I had a lot of separation anxiety and drove myself crazy going in and out of her room all night. Mind you, it was right beside mine I didn't sleep well because I was constantly worried about her. I was a new mommy and it happens. Lol There for awhile, it was just her and I. It definitely added to me wanting her close in my room. I think you'll know when it's right for you and you will not receive any shame from me! 🤨
I went straight to crib mainly because my bedroom isn’t big enough for a bassinet. We didn’t breastfeed very long, but mainly because of severe ties and latch issues, but it definitely would’ve been easier for night feeds if he was in with us
@db413 thanks so much, that's what I was thinking it would be easier for night time feeding
We used the bassinet next to us the first few weeks when he was eating every two hours, but by about 4 weeks it had spaced out and since I'm a light sleeper we had to move him to his rib in his room or I'd get snow sleep!
