I have a question for you all.
So my current partner isn't my babies dad but my babies dad doesn't want anything to do with her and has made that pretty clear. My partners been here throughout my pregnancy, bought most of my daughter's things and helped us get the flat ready for her and he's so involved with her and spends as much time as he can feeling my belly or talking to her.
My mum's side of the family have said recently that my partner shouldn't be so involved or be buying anything as he's not her dad and that he has no right in calling himself dad. I understand he's not her biological father but he's been here through it all and when my daughter's old enough I'll tell her about her real dad I wouldn't keep that from her but just wanted opinions on the matter?

To be a dad is alot more than just making the baby. A dad is somebody who is there for you and suports you. Sounds like you have got a really good partner. I think your doing just fine hun x

Being a dad is a lot more than having a child. Hes not really a dad if he isnt there for you and his baby.... doesnt help pay for things...wants nothing to do with her. I honestly wouldnt call him a dad. My daughters 'dad' wants nothing to do with her either...hes never done anything for us. I just really refer to him as a sperm donar. He helped to make her. But didnt do much more than that. My bf on the otherhand has been more of a dad to Maya....he plays with her...makes her laugh...she adores him...and he helps me with anything when he really doesnt have to :) xx

No matter what people are always going to have something to say x but no one knows or has seen that connection and feeling ur partner already has with your baby x
Only u know what is best x do whatever u feel is right hun x
Take no notice of what other people/family have to say x he will be a part of ur baby's life x regardless of what people think or feel x

Just ignore everyone else, my friend had the exact same problem before I moved and her partner was a great dad the biological dad knew about the baby and still didn't do anything but her current partner did and I respect that, like everyone said it takes alot to be a dad not just a sperm cell xx

It all comes down to what you 2 want as it's your relationship. For me I'd hold off calling him Dad etc for a while because who knows what the future could bring. You've not been together long & a bump is much different to raising actual child. If he continues to stay with you & be a role good model then he fully deserves the Father title.

He sounds like a very supportive guy and dad or not he'll help you take care of your little one as if it was his own but my opinion on her biological dad I don't think he's a very nice person since he's not involved or wants to be.
It takes a real man who supports you fully helps you and is there when you need him
That's being a dad
All the best
