Okay so my question with all this is did they ask for advice or were you just throwing info out there. I mean I agree on 90% of what your saying. I think baby lead weaning is a good idea..but that's a whole different subject. I get your ranting but not all parents/ mom's are doing what they do for reason you I used to have to use blankets with my daughter because we didn't have our heater fixed until winter was over last year. Not trying to make you mad I'm just thinking about other moms situations could be different than you realize..

@gallofamily.6, I give advice just because they may not know better and sometimes it’s just nice to know better.. like I always say “Know better do better”. And I completely understand where you’re coming from.

We let both of our kids CIO. Sue me. Oh and we gave our baby a couple sips of water from her bottle to help clear her throat when we didn’t have anything else. Let’s see how else can I prove to you that I’m a horrible parent. Hmmm, my son has had a blanket in bed since he was about 11 months old, my doc said we could start food for our kids at their 4 month appt (and we did!). Maybe when you “give advice” try using a respectful tone or say hey, I’ve been doing research that shows blah blah blah. That way people don’t think you’re some pretentious know it all mom who’s judging them. Try that.

@mommaabbott, the blanket thing i meant for new born babies that are not capable of moving the blanket if it gets in the face.

How did we all survive when all the things you claim are bad for kids, many of our own parents did? And FYI it's not sids if your child suffocates on an object in their bed. The cause of death would be accidental suffocation. SIDS stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The definition is a cause of infant death with no clear explanation. Essentially, something shuts off in the child on its own. There literally is no explanation. Here is a link for you to study sids so you can give better "safe advice".

@raycharles1230, that was years ago, this now and there’s a lot of new studies. I’m aware of what SIDS is. But regardless things shouldn’t be left in a crib that a child could suffocate on.

Um Hi. So my daughter loves water. Had cereal in her bottle. We did the c.i.o. method which worked wonders. Haven't put a blanket in the crib yet but it will happen soon. My babes is perfectly healthy and happy. I'm a pretty good parent. So is my husband. Note that not everyone does everything the same and if you come at someone like you did in this post I would have been offended as well. Also didn't breast feed. I'm a fan of fed is best. Good job on your research though. 😀😄

@mommylovescoraline, I have absolutely no problem with people who don’t breastfeed, and in regards to the water, I’m talking about newborns, your daughter is almost 1. And yes this post sounded more rude then what was intended. When I do give advice I’m very polite about it but some people decide to come back at me being rude lol

@sabreycastro1996 She had water as a newborn to clear her sinuses. That's neither here or there. Research is research. Proven..unproven..all moms go different routes. Just as long as we uplift each other then we'll stay strong. 😄❤

Bring up the “well my parents did that and I’m fine” completely ignores the fact that the babies who weren’t fine can’t say so because they died.
