Anyone know the qualifications and steps to get section 8 or single parent housing?

It depends on income and you’ll be on a waiting list it could be months to years depending on your area

I'm pretty sure you can go online and look up section 8 housing locations near you. And you go to the location and they give you a packet to fill out and that puts you on a wait-list that is anywhere from a year to 5 years long depending . Here where I live the wait list STARTS at five years right now

Also call 211 if you have to they should tell you about the houses in your area that are hud section 8 ect

Depending on your situation they will get you in an apartment faster than others an put you on the top of the list so don’t get discouraged thinking you will have to wait forever

My area has section 8, but we also have affordable dwelling units. You should look that up in your state as well. It’s for first time home buyers.... they have condos, town houses, and houses (but the wait is usually long). But can’t hurt to look

For now you can utilize real estate apps like Trulia and study the market. See what the most affordable neighborhoods are and just go knocking on doors. I have been a real estate hawk the last two years and now I know exactly where the cheapest apartments are. I found a 2 br close to the freeway for $675 a month which is HUGE in central California. that's a score and I wouldn't have found it without the trulia app
