Earlier my son fell asleep in his swing when I put him there so I could do something so I just let him sleep. He was just in a diaper and it felt pretty warm in the apartment so I just left him. Well I fell asleep and woke up two hours later, I checked on him and his little feet to half way up his calf and his hands were freezing! Even his tummy felt much cooler than usual. One of my worst nightmares is waking up and finding my son dead and cold so I immediately started freaking out. I picked him up and he didn't even stir so I started panicking even more. It took me like 5 minutes to get him to wake up, but it felt like forever. I have never felt more guilty and terrified in my life.

So new moms let this be a lesson; it may feel warm to you, but babies don't retain body heat as well as we do. Letting them sleep so you can catch up on stuff or catch a nap isn't worth it unless they are safe and warm, honestly.

My little sister almost drowned in the bath tub when I was 6 and she was a few months old because my mom thought it was okay to leave her alone in the tub with me and then she almost drowned in a pool when I was 13 and she was 6, I pulled her out of the water both times because my mom wasn't paying attention. It's so scary! I'll never leave my baby anywhere near water alone, no matter how old he gets, I'll still worry! 🙅😶

Very true! I'm going to live by that saying now. I don't know if I actually did, but I seriously feel like I risked his life by trying to cut corners and it will not happen again. It's been eating me up all day.

its ok girl. i freak out alllllll the time. i mess up too and feel extra guilty and when someone says its ok i still beat myself up about it. nonetheless, im glad hes ok

@damiensmommy1117, a tip, he will do that in the summertime too. I bought these giant muslin cloth swaddle blankets for my son last summer and some times I’d leave him in a T-shirt and diaper all day and during naps I tossed one of those over his legs and he was perfect 👌 things happen and I actually did the same thing but I didn’t fall asleep I just didn’t thing he’d get cold considering it was dead hot out and he was 6 months old by then. Blankets like that even just receiving blankets work wonders if it’s warm in the house. Keeps them warm but not overly warm.
