Its not your fault, GD definitely can be hereditary. It has to do with the placenta causing problems with insulin...following the diet is super hard, but worth it. If your results are really high, they say you automatically have it. If you end up in a specific range, they have you take a longer test with more sugar

Thanks, maybe I will revisit the issue at my appt on Wed. @thegermanmommy @lulu85_18 . I am also dealing with pregnancy induced carpel tunnel and it makes testing in the morning extremely difficult

@princessm928 your doctor should have never said that you will fail the 3 hr test because he doesn't know. Because your mom had GD it does put you at a higher risk for getting it too. But for your doctor to completely rule out the 3 hr test isn't right. Your doctor should make all of options available to you.

@princessm928, my mom had GD with me. Was it higher than 180? Mine was sky high and they let me take a 4-hr. I’m just so surprised that he is writing you off like that. He sounds like he was kind of rude about it. My doc thought I would fail the second one too. Just know that it’s really up to you. Don’t let the doctor make you feel defeated.

@lulu85_18 his wording was "you failed with flying colors" I said I'm not sure what the means and he said I bombed it and would not pass the 3 hour so not worth doing it. My sister had GD with so her pregnancies and just found out my Mom did too, maybe because of that too

@princessm928, I am just curious, but why does your doctor insist that you’ll fail it? Did you fail your first glucose test? I am at high risk for diabetes, failed the first test, and did the 4-hr test and passed it. I would do the test again just to be sure.

That's where I am @thegermanmommy , I feel like I let our baby down and didn't eat as well as I should have even tho I really think I did. I am testing 4 times a day now and doing the food journal. I have to go weekly to the specialist. It just seems like so much when I don't believe I have it. He said I would def fail and not worth putting my body through the 3 hour test.

@princessm928 I would definitely do the 3 hr test. You want make completely sure that you do or you don't have it. When I found out I had gestational diabetes I was so mad at myself. Because I of course got onto Google and researched everything about gestational diabetes. I was lucky and only had to take medicine at night but I had to completely change my eating habits. I also had to test my sugar levels 4 times a day and keep track of my levels and I also had to keep a food journal. It was very hard, but not impossible. I kept telling myself I am doing this for my baby.

@thegermanmommy Thanks. I didn't get sent for the 3 hour because he said I would definitely fail it. I started testing on Wed. and except once, it hasn't been elevated at all and I believe that once was an error on my part due to lemon on my hands lol. Should I tell him I want to do the 3 hour one? I hate doing the testing, it's really annoying.
