When my son started walking i used to put something in his hand for some reason it balanced him ..like a wooden spoon or like a long toy

I put my daughter in her walker at 4 months and she really took off in it. It helped build her leg muscles and strength. She was taking steps at 9 months and walking at 10. She also gets floor time to move around. We also hold her fingers and walk around with her. She's done really well.

@jen_1320 that's ok. The walker is really just something to get them excited about walking. It doesn't work for a lot of kids.

I didn’t use a walker at all. I would allow my daughter to play on the carpet or on a blanket (on the floor). She started standing quickly, walking holding on from on thing to the next and by 9 months she was walking. Once she turned a year she was running and climbing on stuff.

When I taught my ex’s daughter to walk she was a little over a year and could barely even crawl because they held her so much. Eventually I just placed her on the floor and went about my things. She learned soon enough to get around to follow me. Walkers help a ton!

Mine had a walker, months before that. When out of the walker, all he needed was space.
