So after 13 months of not seeing my mil, my husband reaches out to see if she wants to get lunch on Sunday to celebrate her one year being sober. Haven't heard back from her. You'd think after being stalked, forced to move, random letters, drive bys we'd never get here... only took one time my husband answered the phone (accidentally).
Well he reached out in text. Never heard back. Kinda makes me annoyed after all the shit she's put us through even before we stopped talking to her. She definitely tested our marriage a few times since my husband didn't see what I did for a while.

@gracelynnsmama I don't think I've ever related so much to a post on here as this one! So sad! I completely feel you!

@noturprops, she has truly tested our relationship. My husband is an only child and raised by a single mom. For years he fed into her bullshit, helping her out, moving in; for her to throw him out days after. I work in the mental health field. I tried to get him to see this. She went missing one day after leaving him a weird message. We went to her apartment. He saw blood from the window and broke in because she wasn't answering. She wasn't home. She fell and went to the er. At the er she was pain pill seeking. When we got there, she flipped out at us for "finding " her. It was the saddest thing. We had to get her help. She went, but because she wasn't ready; she relapsed after my daughter was born. We lived in the same apartment community as her then. My husband called her the night we got home from the NICU with our daughter. He went there after no answer. She was trashed. He lost it! We had to cut ties and have her make her own decisions. She never even saw us move and we didn't even hide it.
Now she's sober; has reached out to him so many times and he's ready to meet. She hasn't even responded. We rent from his aunt, who is more of a grandmother to our daughter than my mil is. We're trying to be civil and do things in a public place once a month (like visitation). I'm due next week with our second child. We'll see what happens.

@gracelynnsmama Wow! That's a really tough position to be in. I'm just thankful that you and your husband came together to cut ties with her when you did. My biggest challenge has been that my husband has been so incredibly verbally abused by his mother that he is a glutton for punishment. He has kept contact with his mother and it has caused a lot of strain in our relationship because he keeps coming to me broken hearted. At first I tried fighting it, advising otherwise, but now, I just have to let him get hurt and figure it out on his own. It's a sad and vicious cycle. Don't even get me started on how she treated and still treats me! My husband is also an only child and she got him to be completely dependent on him then decided because she didn't like him dating me, she gave me an ultimatum that if he gets rid of me, he can keep everything he had( his job working in her business, his truck she bought through the business, his cell phone, her paying some of his bills, his health insurance and etc.) She gave him this ultimatum after pulling me into her business, begging me to come work for her, I finally caved, involving me in alot of unnecessary drama with my now husband's ex, then pulling me into the office and firing me because, " I was in the way!" She's all sorts of crazy. Everything she took from him, I maxed out my credit cards and gave it back. She continued harassing us and in one day she sent me 90 text messages calling me filfthy names, putting down my parenting her grandson( my husband has a 5 year old from a previous relationship) and my own daughter, telling me she hates me and will never like me, how her son is only lost between my legs, among other horrible things. My pain doesn't even stem from how she treated me. It hurt at first, but my pain is watching my husband get hurt by her over and over and now her grandson! She pumps her grandson for information on our relationship and is crazy obsessed. The beauty of the story is, although this has been going on and I've had a hard time with it like I was saying, I found out we were pregnant with our son, we ended up getting married on the beach, to which she was told very plainly she isn't invited and we've grown the happiness in our household. Right before Christmas she asked him to come see her for a Christmas party at her workplace and I had to watch him go knowing he was going to come back hurt. Well, he was there for only 10 mins and she started running her mouth infront of all her employees and my husband left. I think after a year of this drama, he finally had enough! Crazy! I'll pray for a smooth delivery for you and happiness in your home. Hopefully his mother leaves you all alone. God Bless! 😍

We haven't seen her in over a year. If she's sober like she says; we'll attempt baby steps. And pretty much if she blows it; that's it. When we were dating years ago; he moved in with her then about a few weeks later when he told her he'll help but not paying all her bills; she threw him out. I was living at my parents and my parents let him move in. My husband is very close to my family. We only associate with a handful on his side due to alcoholism and substance abuse.
He realized once we had a child that he could not do that to her. He has awful memories from aunts and uncles beyond wasted; finding his own mother past out to the point he thought she was dead; that was the end all. His mother doesn't like me because she got him to help her and it enabled her. I saw through it and stopped him. She even tried to contact my parents and tell them lies about my husband and I. It was ridiculous. I still am not over what she has done but I'm willing to give her a shot for my kids but if she blows it; we're all done
