When is the latest that your children walked? My son is 16 months today and still not walking unassisted yet so he has to be evaluated to make sure he's developing as he should be. My mom told me I was 15 months when I first walked and that my older cousin was almost 2 by the time she first walked. I mean I don't feel like I should be worried because he'll walk holding on to things and holding on to your hands he's just afraid let go. He's been a little bit of a late bloomer in stuff as well. So when he decides to he will. I don't think it's fair of them to be like he needs to be walking by now or something can be wrong with him or like I'm not doing something right 😒🙁

@morgan.k, I think if he showed no interest I'd be more concerned and more on board for this evaluation. But I think he's just taking his time. I really don't think he's lacking in anything. He walks holding on to the couch and coffee table and beds and when we hold his hands he'll walk right with us. I really don't see how they'll see that he's delayed. He's just a little bit more cautious he didn't crawl till 10 months old.

My daughter would only cruise around and crawl I bought her a pair of hard sole shoes she walked a week later and has been walking since...try that.

My daughter will be 14 months next week. She holds onto things and walks, gets up and down and has stood on her own for a few seconds a few times. Otherwise it's with assistance for walking. I'm not worried at the moment. She was 6 weeks premature so we have leeway with milestones.
Also boys tend to walk later than girls.

@missjess Now a days they put time lines on everything because there are so many more children being diagnosed with all kind of disorders with all of the medical advancements today, but honestly, ALL KIDS develop at different speeds. If you feel as if he is just being extra cautious about it, and there are no other concerns with him when it comes to that long list of "milestones" doctors/experts compiled, then I wouldnt be a lick worried. Honestly, you know your baby more than anyone. If you arent concerned, then you decide whats best. No two people are the same.. There is a lot of lee way when it comes to development the first 5 years of a childs life. They all do things at their own pace in the beginning and no one child will be the same as another. Its when there are many things that are concerning at one time that evaluations need to take place.
