My son failed the Autism STAT screening this morning; the second test he’s had and failed. That means he’s on the autism spectrum disorder scale somewhere; won’t have an exact diagnoses until he’s closer to 3. That means now we have to apply for disability and Medicaid, have him put in babybet, and start weekly Home visits with therapists for speech and areas of delay. I’ve been trying to prepare myself for this since he failed the first test. Of course I love him just the same as always and he’s still perfect in my eyes. I just feel so overwhelmed right now with all of this though. I know things could be SO much worse than this so I am thanking God for trusting me with this very special Angel and I know in my heart we will all be just fine. ❤️💙❤️

@dylansmom, well his pediatrician did a short initial screening at his 18month checkup. They were looking to see how he interacts with others, how many words he can speak (he doesn’t say any), whether he can give a high five or point to his nose or eyes yet, asked about tantrums (he had them so many times a day I can’t count them), and a couple other questions I can’t remember. His lack of speaking was the first concern noticed.

Oh ok. My son says a few words but not many and he says the first letter of some words but wont complete it so i was wondering if i should have him evaluated for speech.

@dylansmom, I would definitely ask your pediatrician. They can have speech problems but not be on the spectrum.
